Frequently asked questions

  • People come to therapy for many different reasons. You might be experiencing anxiety, low mood, trauma, relationship difficulties, grief, stress, or a sense of feeling stuck or overwhelmed. You do not need to be in crisis to begin therapy — you may simply want space to reflect and understand yourself more deeply.

  • Counselling often focuses on current difficulties and support around specific issues, while psychotherapy can involve exploring deeper or longer-standing patterns and experiences. In practice, the work often overlaps, and together we can decide what approach best supports your needs.

  • The complimentary 30-minute consultation is an opportunity to talk about what brings you to therapy, ask any questions you may have, and get a sense of how it feels to work together. There is no obligation to continue beyond this session.

  • Sessions last 50 minutes and usually take place weekly. The frequency and length of therapy can be reviewed and adjusted depending on your needs.

  • Yes. Confidentiality is a fundamental part of the therapeutic relationship. There are a small number of legal and ethical exceptions, which will be explained fully in the client contract before we begin working together.
